Works Pick-up - February 16

Thanks to all who participated in our show. This was our 1st attempt at a juried show and we are hoping to make it an annual event with a different Key Ingredient each year. The next one will have a little more advance notice. :0)


Works from the current show can be picked up at Sewell Mill on Tuesday, Feb 16 from 9 - 3.

Reception - February 4th - Date Change

The Opening Reception for the art show will be February 4th at Sewell Mill from 5-7PM. Everyone is welcome.

Sewell mill is located just off of business 27 a block or so north of Tallapoosa Street in Bremen, GA near The Porter House. It is not in the large yellow Sewell Mill building on US 78.

Deadline extension and Notifications of Acceptance

Since we were late in getting notices out we have extended the deadline for entries until January 31, 2010.

Please try to have your artworks delivered by February1 as we will be hanging the show February 2nd.

The judges have reviewed all works submitted so far and are notifying entrants this week. If you entered the art show and are not contacted by January 31 please email us at artshowentry@gmail.com to verify that your entry was received.

Accepted works can be dropped off with Kristen Gerspacher at Bremen City Hall M, T, Th, & Fri between the hours of 8AM and 5:30PM and on Wednesday from 8:30AM -12:PM. If you cannot drop off your work during those times please email us at artshowentry@gmail.com. Someone will be near the Buchanan Library and can meet you there by appointment.

Sewell Mill will charge a 20% fee of any works sold during the show. Works sold should remain hanging through the end of the show.

The opening reception will be February 4th from 5 - 7 PM. PLEASE COME!!

Art Show Submissions Needed


Call for Entries
for the Haralson County Historical Society
Juried Art Show and Sale

Celebrating
the Smithsonian Institute’s traveling exhibit
“Key Ingredients - America by Food”


Entry Specifications

All entries must be works of art related to food; anything from food itself, to its growth, production, marketing, distribution and/or consumption. Eligible work includes: Paintings, Drawings, Photography, Mixed Media, Prints, Sculpture, Metalwork, and Ceramics. Entries must be the original work of the artist submitting it.
Eligible Persons: Local Artists Entry Fee: $10 (covers up to 3 submissions)

Local Artists may enter a maximum of three works. No entry may exceed 72 inches in any direction or 30 pounds in weight. All two dimensional entries must be properly framed and ready to hang. Paint must be dry. A single entry may contain no more than four component parts. Do not send your actual work of art prior to being accepted into the show.

Works CAN have prices noted if they are for sale.

Entry Instructions
Submit a photo of your work.

Either create a digital image of your work in JPG format and place the digital images on a CD or print a photo of your work. Printed photos need to be at least 4x6".
No slide or e-mail entries will be accepted. CDs and photos will not be returned.

For CDs, Name the digital file as follows: Last name First initial Title of work Entry #.jpg (example: Johnson D Apple Pie 1.jpg). Label the CD with your name and the name of each entry. For printed photos, copy the entry form and attach the copy to the back of your printed photo. Do not send your actual work of art prior to being accepted into the show.

Submit the entry form, CD or print, and $10 entry fee by mail (to be received by January 9, 2010) to:

Entries can also be submitted at the Buchanan-Haralson County Library by Jan 9.

Works will be judged by a panel of local residents and artists. The decision of the judges will be final. Submitting a work for judging does not guarantee that the piece will be accepted for the show.

Accepted Works
Artists will be notified via email (or telephone) if their work has been accepted. Details will be in the acceptance email.

The show is planned to open with a reception on Saturday, Feb 6, 2010 and run through Saturday, February 13th, 2010. The show is tentatively planned to be held in the Sewell Mill facility, which is being renovated as an artists venue and event hall.

Prizes
There will be a cash prize for one individual overall winner. We are working on corporate sponsorships for other prizes.

This will be a public show. Neither Haralson County Historical Society, Sewell Mill or anyone associated with this Art Show will be held responsible for any damage to or loss of any work of art in the show. All responsibility for insurance coverage of the art is the responsibility of the artist. Timely submission and reception of all entries and submissions is the responsibility of the artist.
